THREE BASIC ELLIPTICAL MOTIONS

The Three Basic Elliptical Motions

Based on three basic elliptical motions and the probabilities of the combinations of the three motions in the Dao Sao Flow exercise, innumerable movements are manifested naturally with mindfulness according to the situation. Each movement coordinates with the whole body, stretching the tendons, the muscles, the spine vertebrates etc, integrating all forces mindfully to support the intention of the mind.

Coiling and uncoiling, compressing and releasing, stretching, extending, "closing" and "opening" the joints, the spine and the body, have the benefits at the same time to "massage" the organs and eliminate fats around the organs.

There are four basic energy flow activated by the four basic movements of upwards, downwards, forwards and backwards. The variation of these movements with the three basic elliptical motions and adding speed, can manifest a very powerful force momentum. All these movements and energy flow can be practice in our Sao Lim Wing Chun Lotus Form, especially in the Part 2.

The Spine is the place where the energy centers reside and through which energy is transmitted to different parts of the body. The energy can get stuck if the Mental Body is unbalanced. Therefore the emotional state of the Mind is very important to clear the stagnant energy.

Practicing Dap Sao Flow exercise is more than just martial art, but designed for overall well-being both eternally and internally. The overall movements of the limbs, core of the body, joints, tendons etc, "lubricates and energies" the human anatomy. The perspiration allows toxic to be released and promote "breathing" of the pores. With Mindfulness, the Dap Sao Flow exercise is also a form of "Dynamic Meditation".

The Three Basic Elliptical Motions are :-

  1. Horizontal -- as expressed especially in Chum Kui
  2. Vertical -- as expressed in some throws, Qinna and some sinking techniques
  3. Spiral -- as expressed especially in Bui Jee
